Short Biography

Dr. Iván Antonio Kafarela Orozco is a renowned internal medicine specialist based in Costa Rica. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Libre de Cali in Colombia and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Costa Rica. He also holds a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from the National University of Costa Rica.

Since 2002, Dr. Kafarela has been practicing at Hospital CIMA San José, where he has played a key role in the Internal Medicine department and the Emergency Room. He has also worked with other major institutions, including Hospital Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia and Clínica Bíblica, gaining extensive experience in critical care and emergency medicine.

He is a member of the Costa Rican Association of Internal Medicine, the Costa Rican Association of Bariatric Surgery, and the American College of Physicians. In addition to his clinical work, he has contributed to medical education as a lecturer at several Costa Rican universities.

Dr. Kafarela currently offers consultations at Medicentro La Sabana and Hospital CIMA San José.
